"a gem in the middle of nowhere"

We just came from a truly enjoyable 2 day stay in Villa Wilali. It was such beautiful place and a gem out of nowhere. Despite having seen the photos earlier, i was still amazed at how beautiful and serene it was. Much , much lovelier than the actual photos. My biggest fear about this trip was the long long drive and that it would be too quiet for my 3 teen-age kids. It was a long drive indeed, took us more than 4 hours but everyone thought it was well worth the long drive. My teen age kids, who initially had plans to meet up with their friends in the city after this trip, did not care for moving again to our next destination. They could not have enough of it.
If people plan to go to Bali to decongest, do not go to the Bali proper. there will probably more people and the traffic worse where you came from. This place and those that are off the beaten track are perfect for unwinding and experiencing the charm of Bali.

Great Family Vacation

We had a spectacular time at Villa Wilali - Putra the Villa Manager and his staff were first class and the service they provided whether it be organising trips, cooking meals, attending to the villa, pool and garden was excellent.

The location of the villa on the beach front was stunning. We particularly enjoyed walks along the beach to Pemuteran to see the turtles and the temple to see the monkeys however the kids (2 & 6 yrs) decided the best activity was a trip on the Jukung boat to the reef to snorkel.

Having said this most time was spent in the pool and teh adults enjoyed our daily massages in the Lumbung at the end of the garden.

A great stay and we expect to return.

Extremely Memorable!

My extended family consisted of my son, daughter-in-law, 21 year old grandson and his girlfriend, and 18 year old grandson. We were joined for a couple of days by my nephew who lives in Denpasar. There is plenty of space for everyone to feel that they are not encroaching on each other. The rooms are very comfortable and tastefully and practically furnished and the villa has a homely feel to it. The staff are always smiling, attentive and efficient.
Time can be spent in a great variety of ways and one would not be bored staying in Villa Wilali for a fortnight or more. There are many activities that can be undertaken, e.g. snorkeling, diving, trekking, sightseeing etc, after which it is great to return to the peace of Villa Wilali and dive into the swimming pool or the warm sea, or just laze by it.

It is like a dream

Our youngest child's (aged 5) first comment on arrival was 'it is like a dream'. The holiday met all his expectations! Our family (5 children aged from 17 to 5) had a wonderful relaxing holiday. We were concerned about the long trip from the airport, but the driver arranged by the villa was both friendly and a good driver. This area of North West Bali is remote and quiet so this is not the villa for you if you like bright lights. We wanted a relaxing quiet holiday, which is what we got.
The staff were attentive but discreet. All our meals were cooked by the staff, if we wanted something off the menu they were happy to oblige.
The snorkeling was great, we had asked for life jackets for our 2 youngest before we arrived, these were produced without having to ask on arrival.
The property itself was clean and roomy, with comfortable beds (all with mosquito nets) and lovely outdoor bathrooms. The pool was clean and the surrounding gardens mature and very well kept, full of beautiful tropical flowers.
We had been to Bali before so didn't feel the need to do a vast amount of touring. We did ask our driver to take us to a few sites on our way back to the airport, so turned our trip home into a great day out seeing the sites.

The best thing about the holiday was that you really didn't need to leave the villa (we were there for a week and went out the front door twice, snorkeling trips left from the beach at the bottom of the garden), everything was taken care of.

Excellent stay for a larger group

We (two couples and 5 teenagers) had a perfect time in Villa Wilali. Very nice and quite house with 4 very comfortable bedrooms; great garden with a large, nicely designed and clean swimming pool and beautiful seaview. Very friendly personnel for cleaning and cooking. We had excellent meals, served at the time we indicated.
We booked several interesting excursions (dolphins, snorkeling) through the manager of the villa. Massages in our own bale with the relaxing sounds of the waves.
Highly recommended for those looking for a relaxing time in very comfortable setting in Bali.

This was a heavenly escape!

We were seeking a destination that was peaceful, secluded, and utterly relaxing and Villa Wilali did not disappoint! After just one week we felt stress free and completely relaxed. The grounds are stunning, the staff are friendly & attentive, the villa is divine and we loved being massaged in the afternoon breeze whilst listening to the waves lap onto the shore.
In fact, it was so good, I almost didn't write this review for not wanting to share my little piece of heaven with the rest of the world!

Wonderful getaway spot to relax and unwind

My partner and I stayed at Villa Wilali for 6 nights in May and overall we were very happy with the experience.

Cisca was great to deal with before we came over to Villa Wilali - very helpful. When we arrived we were struck by the very very beautiful gardens leading into the Villa and then even more lovely garden, pool and ocean view. The photos from the website dont do the gardens justice as they have grown quite a bit since these photos were taken and are very lovingly cared for - its clearly something the staff take a great deal of pride in. Some shade by the pool lounges would have been nice and perhaps a second seating arrangement on the bale near the waters as this spot is very addictive - once I was there I didnt want to move.

The rooms were great and very clean and the sitting area or patio out front of the rooms provides plenty of shade to sit and talk or read or accidentally fall asleep.

We also hired a motorbike while we were at the Villa and Putra was super helpful when we lost the keys after returning from Mengagan Island - he came out with another set of keys for us and returned a second time to help start the bike. In fact everyone in this area is so very very friendly and warm hearted its a joy to be around people like this.

So whether you want to laze around an amazing villa to relax and unwind or venture out to numerous places of interest (but dont miss the snorkelling at Mengagan Island it is out of this world) - Villa Wilali is the place for you. We will be back and would recommend to everyone.

Wonderful villa and staff

I stayed in this villa in april and as other reviewers have previously stated the villa is wonderful and caters to your every need. All of the staff were amazing - they provided everything I wished for but at the same time also leaving me alone so I could relax. I had some lunchs and dinners and the food was very good and served very quickly. The villa manager also contacted Made Brenggo who took me to an amazing tour to Menjangan Island. He was an excellent, experienced guide who took care so I didn´t ´snorkel among jellyfish and even showed me two sharks! All and all, a wonderful stay.

A dream ...

We stayed there for 5 nights, all our expectations were fullfilled.
The villa has 4 rooms for 2 people each and as we were only 4 we could stay in the sea-view rooms. So we had allways the fantastic view from the veranda. We appreciated the comfort inside and outside of the villa, the friendlyness of the housekeepers and the manager. All of our requests were handled immediately. The house and the pool were allways clean. Sometimes we had lunch and dinner, which were very tasty.
It was the best stay we had in the 2 weeks in Bali.

Fabulous Getaway Spot

We recently spent 8 days at Villa Wilali. As another reviewer stated, the villa is more stunning in person than in the photos. Staff were excellent, going out of their way to show as the local Bali culture in addition to preparing excellent meals. We would definately stay there again.

Total relaxation

We stayed at Villa Wilali for 7 days and enjoyed the total relaxation which we were looking for. The staff were wonderful and there if and when you needed them. The meals which the chef cooked were amazing. Weather was not great but that did not stop us from enjoying the tranquility at the villa. There are some lovely little warungs within walking distance from the villa which also provided really good meals at very reasonable prices - definitely worth the walk. We made a lot of use of the daybead right on the beachfront - listening to the waves with a glass of chilled wine, what more could you ask for? The only disappointment we had was our diving trip to Menjangan Island. The water was crystal clear but the pollution in the water was disgusting to say the least. Besides the plastic in the water, there seemed to be a redish film on the top of the water. The diveshop said that it was because of currents and the pollution had drifted in from Java. That being said, they made no effort to try and remove any of the plastic from the surface or stuck to the coral down to about 8 meters. Besides that one day out, our time was amazing, thank you everyone!

Amazingly relaxing and comfy

Amazingly relaxing and comfy
This absolute beachfront property is the perfect place for a holiday with family also with younger kids as they can safely run around and play in the gardens. We had a wonderful time as we did not have to constantly check what the kids were doing and managed to relax by the pool. The kids also had fun playing at the beach and in the ocean.

The staff is friendly and is very attentive yet invisible unless you need them. The food was tasty and very affordable.
We hope we will go back soon!

You can stop looking for other places

You can stop looking for other places
The price is high for Villa Wilali, but it is excellent value for the money. The house is spacious and with a fantastic garden and pool with your own stretch of ( a bit rocky) beach. It is actually better than it looks on the internet! We stayed a family of six with 3 grown up children and there was plenty of room and a great place to celebrate Christmas. The staff is among the most helpful you can find, and they assist you with tours and prepare excellent meals for you, with a smile attending all small and strange requests that families usually have. The house is equipped with everything you can need, bath towels, kitchen equipment etc, and if you need something else just ask. If you go here you should make sure that you like to spend some time in the villa and garden, it would be a waste to be out on excursions all the time. The only flawback is the very slow internet, but to some of us it is nice to tell everyone that you are simply not available! Plenty of small excursions to do in the surroundings, and the area is not at all touristy - a real getaway.

A little piece of paradise

I spent a wonderful 5 days at Villa Wilali up north in Pemuteran. All staff were excellent – friendly and eager to ensure that my stay was catered to every need. Anything from breakfast, lunch and dinner at times you desired to transfers, day tours, recommendation of local restaurants, arranging massages at the gazebo, the list goes on. The villa is beautifully decorated, all rooms have their own ensuite, comfortable beds and fully air conditioned.
And I can’t forget the private pool. For one who isn’t a swimmer, it was so inviting, I enjoyed a dip every day looking out to the sea just steps away. All in all I would highly recommend the villa and location. My whole experience was really special.

Great Family Holiday

If you are looking for a quiet place with private pool and beach, then Villa Wilali is a “must place’ to stay!

We had breakfast in the gazebo near the ocean, swam a few laps in the pool, enjoyed our ‘open air’ showers in open bathroom and ordered local or international food for lunch from the on-site cook.

We loved walking on the quiet beach and enjoyed watching the sunset from the gazebo or veranda of the villa.

You can also explore the world “outside the villa” like going fishing or snorkeling with your own traditional boat or walking to the monkey forest and Hindu temple. One of our favorite tourism spots is a one hour drive from the villa in Lovina where you can see the black dolphins (if you are lucky of course) and find restaurants and coffee shops.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and really helped to make our stay a relaxing, enjoyable and unforgettable one.

This is how I spent the school holidays last July 2010 with my husband and son. We can’t wait to go back!

The real Bali...but in 5 star comfort

After the hustle and hassle of Kuta we found Pemuteran a welcome and immensely enjoyable location on the quiet side of Bali. The house is stunning, virtually new and very well proportioned. Each bedroom has a great "outdoor" bathroom, very "Bali", and the living area/kitchen has an open layout which leads to a huge verandah overlooking the pool.

Drinking a "Bintang" at sunset looking out over the volcano's on Java was just spectacular. The house has its own traditional boat, with snorkeling in the bay just in front of the house a real treat. The local village is quiet with just a few small hotels dotted along the bay. Most have decent restaurants and even a decent coffee. For local attractions visit the Monkey Temple and National Park.

A day trip can include Hindu and Buddhist temples, local hot spring pools, Ubud and its Monkey forest. Get a driver though, as even on the quiet side the moped traffic is pretty crazy. We found the staff to be very nice and helpful, and the photos shown are an accurate reflection of this very impressive house. The drive from Kuta is about 3 1/2 hours, but this is almost a "tour" in itself as you wind through jungles, past rice paddies and overlook spectacular lakes. A "must stay" for anyone who wants to see the real Bali but from the luxury of a "5 star" base.
